Design Round-up - Sheer White Curtains Panels!

Hey guys, do you know what I absolutely love?  No fuss decorating.  Yup, as much as I love using color, pattern and texture to add interest to a space.  I also love finding simple solutions for making any home function well and look great!

So today I'm featuring sheer white curtain panels.  Why - because they're super affordable and I love how they can soften a room in an instant!  Check out the Inspiration I found, all images courtesy of Houzz...

Ahhh, I LOVE the simplicity in these designs!

And if you're lucky enough to have a beautiful view, then sheer panels are the perfect choice.  Okay it's official.  I am completely INSPIRED today and will be adding a few fabulous sheer white curtain panels to a room in our home!  I'll have the reveal soon, so be on the lookout for that.

So if you've been searching hi and low for window treatments but can't seem to find the perfect ones, and privacy isn't an issue - think about sheer panels, because in a well decorated space...

Less can be more!

Hey guys, have you noticed anything different around here?  Yup, just above and next to the Featured section I've finally added our Home Tour!

  Here's a sneak peek...

I can't believe how much our home has changed over the years.  To give you an idea our Family Room when we bought this home 8 years ago used to have thick wall to wall solid white carpeting, beige walls and a dark red brick fireplace, yikes!

Okay go here for the entire tour, and WELCOME!

Design Board - Classic Coastal!

Hey guys, today I thought I'd share my latest Design Board and the style is Classic Coastal!
Client R

Heron Family I Print -   $174.99
Surya Squares Orange Decorative Pillow - Layla Grace   $70
Gold Leaf Convex Wall Mirrors - Layla Grace    $173
New Castle Club Chair - Wayfair     $1,758
Gold Mercury Votives - West Elm   $8
Mongolian Lamb Pillow - West Elm   $169
Similar Gourd Lamp -   $100

I recently met with a client who said their style was traditional and they wanted a whole new look for their family room.  But they didn't want a typical traditional space, they wanted something more.  They wanted some fun color, yet they needed neutral sofas and traditional brown leather tufted club chairs for comfort and function.  They didn't say anything about coastal, but hey...we live in North Carolina after all, so I ran with that ;)

The few coastal elements I did use helped pull the whole room together for a comfortable space with style, color and balance.  My favorite part of this board are the heron prints, and the play on patterns.  Yup, I love mixing patterns!  Okay so there you have it...traditional meets coastal for an eclectic space that is anything but boring!

Fabulous 4 Less

Wow, Summer is flying by, I can't believe it's almost August!

Well as you know I love finding simple and chic design trends...for less!  So today I thought I'd share a few chic finds with loads of style that won't break the bank.  Check out these lovelies...

Color Plus Modern Table Lamp - Euro Style Lighting $99

Lahaina Outdoor Wood Chaise Lounge - JC Penney $165  sale

Kisanii Pillow Covers - West Elm $49

NuLOOM Shag Grey Plush Rug - AllModern $277 (6'7" x 9')

Fog Kendall Sofa - World Market $549.99  sale

First of all I can't believe this NuLOOM rug is less than $300, and the Fog Kendall sofa from World Market is less than $600, those are great prices!  Also JC Penney is having a HUGE sale right now and many of their lamps are over half off, love that.

Finally the hubby and I are on the lookout for two stylish yet minimal chairs for our deck.  We could really lounge in style with two of these Lahaina chaise lounge chairs!  Hmmm, my wheels are spinning ;)

I love finding great values in home decor!

Diy Painted Gold Mirror ...

I'm so excited about my latest Diy project!  I painted a simple round mirror I purchased at Old Time Pottery for just 39.99 with Martha Stewart's craft paint in metallic gold.  Yes I am a huge fan of gold in home decor & design these days!  Here's my inspiration photo...

I purchased my supplies at Michaels...

Martha Stewart's metallic gold craft paint
Acrylic paint in "burnt umber" (for glaze)

Here's the Before picture of the mirror below.  I loved the round shape, but the color was too flat and dark for the room.

For this project I applied the gold paint in circular motions on the frame of the mirror.  I focused on the top section first, then the bottom, and finally the middle.  I also let each section dry completely before moving onto the next.  And for coverage I used 3 full coats.

The final and most important step in this Diy project was adding glaze.  With a soft cloth I rubbed a brown glaze made with simple "burnt umber" craft paint and water onto the gold frame.  The glaze settles into cracks and crevasses giving a subtle distressed appearance.

And here's my new mirror finished...

Yup I love my new gold mirror!  And this was such a fun week-end project too.  So shop your house.  Do you have a mirror with a great shape but not a great color?  Then it might just be time to get your Gold ON!

Color Inspiration... turquoise & orange!

Hey guys, I hope everyone is having a fun Summer!  Today I am Inspired by the simple color combination - turquoise & orange.  These interior designs below scream vacation getaway don't they, and the colors are so vibrant and energizing!
Love the headboard and combination of colors plus Eclectic Bedroom Design, Pictures, Remodel, Decor and Ideas - page 7
A wallpaper after my own heart! And the orange and turqoise are GORGEOUS!
love the colour combo of pale turqoise and coral.

Here is another example of spray painting the frames all one color. What really makes the wall interesting is the shape and use of the frames themselves. Here the 'frames' almost become the art with subtle watercolors of shells. Look for interesting details when picking the frames. The ugliest frame can become stunning with a coat of paint!

Ahhh, how FUN!

Well as much as I'd love to spend a few weeks of my Summer vacay in one of these chic spaces above, our vacation plans include a baseball tourney in Myrtle and a dated oceanfront resort with a giant lazy river, gah!  However being together with my family, and seeing my kiddos so happy - I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Happy Summer!

A great new design resource - Plaid Fox!

Hey guys today I'd like to introduce you to a new Decorating Resource that I LOVE.  It's called Plaid Fox and this site is so cool.

Plaid Fox offers the latest in designer furnishings & accessories for the home including furniture, rugs, pillows/linens, lighting and more.   But they don't just stop there.  They offer a Style Test to help you eliminate decorating mistakes and find the right pieces for you.  After all a beautifully decorated room doesn't just look good, it has to reflect you and your personality.

So I took the Style Test and the results were spot on.  It said my primary style is eclectic...

And my secondary style is coastal...
And yes I absolutely love both these styles.  In fact, my home is an eclectic mix of traditional, mid century modern and coastal.  Yup, I love it all!

My favorite part about Plaid Fox is they have Designer Collections from top Interior Designers.  Below are a few picks from Ben Leavitt - owner of KuDesign.

Salto Side Chair - $299

Rambla - $499

Calabass - $199

Reachalle - $399
Pancini Sofa Dark Gray - $1199

Ahhh I am swooning over here...these pieces are beautiful and offered at great prices.  Another thing I love about Plaid Fox is that once you take the style test, you can shop by that specific style.  So if your style test says you like Industrial, then you can shop only industrial pieces here.   And if you love traditional, mid century modern, french country, coastal decor or even eclectic designs - Plaid Fox has you covered!

Okay guys, check out Plaid Fox if your looking for stylish and affordable designer furniture & decor that without a doubt will reflect you and your style!
