Do you have a formal living room? And does anyone really use this space?
We did and the answer was NO! So we recently got rid of our sofa in the living room, ditched the formal living room and made it a Home Office! After all our great room is leads right into this room and this is where we spend most of our time.
The first piece of furniture we needed was a large desk to for our computer, lamp and other office supplies. I looked everywhere and all I found were bulky, executive desks that cost at least $2,000 or more!
Here's the desk I found! Well technically it's not a desk, it's actually a Dining Room table from World Market with clean modern lines. And the price compared to those other desks I had seen...far less than half!
The only downside with this new table is the lack of storage. So the Hubby and I devised a plan, putting file boxes in the hallway closet, and keeping clutter to a minimum. So far, we love it!
So a fabulous find inspires a thrifty home office makeover, without breakin' the bank. We love this space and haven't missed the formal living room one bit!

I love that last picture, Jane, showing the whole area! I love that you rethought the use of the dining room table from World Market as a desk. It makes sense because I like a large work surface too. The prints are great! Did your hubby just print them out on regular copy paper? They really look good over the desk, too. Love prints like that.
ReplyDeleteLove your botanical prints and the table/desk is fantastic. I've linked up friend! Thanks for hosting.
