A Fun Feathered Update!

With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, our week-end has been hectic and busy to say the least! So on Sunday, I decided to "shop the attic" in search of something needing a quick and easy update. Here's what I found: this tired old arrangement that once sat in my dining room. Sigh...yup, this baby needs some color!

before

So I made a quick trip to Michael's and found greenery for $2, and 3 bunches of berries for $1 each. These pheasant feathers I had bought over a year ago at Garden Ridge. And of course I had to paint this boring beige urn a classic black!

after
Here it is finished...I love arrangements that have a natural, grassy and organic feeling! And these pheasant feathers and red berries are just what this arrangement needed...a little color and texture.

Such a fun and easy update! So the next time your looking for a simple project around the house...don't forget to "shop the attic". Chances are good you've got a fabulous find just waiting to be found!

I'm linkin' this post to DIY Day at A Soft Place to Land...although technically it's not a DIY project, but more of a DIY easy update! And Trash to Treasure Tuesday at Reinvented!

Love your refreshed arrangement,Jane! I haven't found anything in the attic, but I did find a lamp {in the basement} that I painted for my son's room a long time ago and was thinking I should do something with it. Even then I had a fleur de lis on it!

I can assure you nothing in my attic would "metamorphose" (word?) that well! It looks so pretty.

Excellent. You named all "my" Dallas stores. Alas, Vermont does not allow serious shopping. Forbidden.

Love the end result.

WOW! That really gave it a punch of color. Love the updated urn paint job too. And that you used something you had big and made it over for a little bit. ;-) Just doesn't look the same now!

The urn is wonderful! And even better when you were done with it.
Pheasant feathers are so big right now. I am doing hydrangeas and feathers and twigs in an urn for my thanksgiving table. You did a stellar job! Thanks for the inspiration.
