Latest Project...Plate Display

...
Hey there, I'm super excited for my latest project. I'm hangin' Plates in the dining room! Our dining room is very traditional with red rusty walls, dark wood furniture, and a gold colonial chandelier that has got to go! Far away, in fact, to the Re-Store where it can hang with all the other dated, gold lighting fixtures. Well unfortunately the chandelier has to stay for now, but my plate display...game on, because I am inspired and ready!

The plates will replace the framed pheasant picture. I actually still love this old bird print, and plan to relocate it somewhere else in the house but with an updated frame. Wouldn't a black bamboo frame be fabulous? But that's another project for another day.

I've actually been wanting to add new art to this wall for a long time now. Something more modern with cleaner lines to help update this traditional room. But I just haven't found anything within my budget. Until the other day when I came across some plates at K-mart and was instantly inspired to create a display with a mix of new plates and vintage ones.

I've seen these projects all over blog land and really love the look. Here are a few that I love:

For my project, I'm looking to create a display that's a little different, a little more modern, with some contrast as well. Here's a glimpse of the plates I'll be using!

FYI...I'll be posting the finished project to all my favorite linky parties next week, so check back in!

Oh and a quick reminder...Frugalicious Friday is ON this week, so link up, we want the scoop on how you $ave!

I'm working on this too. It's harder for me than I expected. Every once in a while I get cross eyed & have to walk away to regroup ;) Looking forward to seeing yours!

I'm really excited to see this. I enjoy the look in other people's homes that I've seen around blogland but never really thought it was a look for my home. Until I saw your modern plates. They look so great! Can't wait to see the end result!

I'm thinking about hanging some plates, too, so I'll be waiting for your final reveal!

And you know, that chandelier ain't all bad! I like the shape. I've seen similar chandeliers in the PB catalog (I'm pretty sure), just in a more updated finish. Perhaps you could spray paint that baby and see how you like it before banishing it to ReStore??

Wow Jane, I'm flattered! Can't wait to see your wall!

Rumor has it that the dollar store has plate hangers. Wish I had known this beforehand. Found some reasonably priced hangers at Walmart though.

My wall continues to grow - will post updated pictures soon.

I'll try to link up Friday.

I think this will turn out great!! I'm sure you may know about these, but I'm going to say it anyway, check out Shanty2Chic for these plate hangers, they're nail free and don't damage your plates~ I think they have a button on the right side of their blog!

I can't wait to see. We have a similar red color in our dining room, and I've wanted a plate display there too. :) Yay

I didn't see anything but the wire plate hangers at the dollar store, but found these adhesive plate hangers online.
