A Fun Lamp Revamp!

...
Here's a fun project if your little one has an older lamp that has seen better days!  Here's the before picture.  This lamp had a cream base with a dingy white triangular shaped shade.  It had been in my daughter's nursery when she was first born.  Hello, my daughter is 8 years now, so this lamp either needed an update or had to go!  Y'all know me by now...so I chose to revamp this lamp!

I picked up a modern bucket shade from Target.  I love these shades, and Target always has a great selection.  It's already looking better, but it needs something...

Like these silk flowers I purchased at Hobby Lobby for around $6.00.  They had to be pink...my daughters loves pink!

Here are the first two flowers attachedYou see where I'm going with this...from bland to ca-ute!

I used small pink brads to hold the flowers in place, also purchased at Hobby Lobby.

The brad pushes through the flower and lamp shade, and then opens up on the other side.  After the flowers were attached I simply painted the lamp base a fresh white to go with the other white furniture in the room.

And here it is finished!  Overall, I love this new look and think it's a huge improvement!  That's why I love Diy projects...taking something old and makng it fresh and new again...it doesn't get any better!  And then the smile on kid 2's face, well that's just the best!

So if your looking for a fun week-end project...go shop your house, or better yet go shop your attic!  I bet you've got some older lamps in need of a new look.  All it takes is a new shade, a little paint and some creativity and your lamp will be as good as new!

Well I am sure that big grin was all the compliment you needed. But let me just add one too, it looks great!

It looks FABULOUS! You can tell she's so pleased with it. :) It looks like something you could buy in the store. Good job!!

I actually did that, Jane! I was looking in my basement for somethng else and found two lamps I totally forgot I had! I spray painted one black this weekend. I'm making a new shade for it, too. The other one is a wood base and perfect for some paint and scrapbook paper. I will be recovering the shade for that one, but I'm very excited to be using something I already had and just redecorating it.
