Memorial Day - July the 4th Tablescape!

Happy Memorial Day.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful, relaxing week-end with family and friends as we honor those soldiers who so bravely died in battle protecting America's freedom!

I thought I'd share an easy Memorial Day or July the 4th Tablescape!  I saw this idea in Better Homes & Gardens magazine.  The design features a colorful tablescape with a fun centerpiece using baseballs!  And since my 10 year old son plays baseball nearly year-round here in North Carolina...baseballs are easy to come by.

And as you know by now...decorating with items I already have, mixed with a few thrifty finds, is truly one of my favorite things.

Yup, for this table scape...the only thing I needed to buy were the place mats and flags!  Actually these "place mats" are tee-towels from the dollar store.  Because they were a bit long, I just folded one 3" edge under and attached with a little fabric glue.
...

These flags you can buy at most craft stores.  They're also fun to stick in your existing potted plants!  These lil' terracotta pots filled with sand quickly became candle votives.  I had wanted to paint the pot's rim blue, but ended up using a little painter's tape instead!

And since I don't have red, white or blue napkin ring holders...I tied these napkins with a little raphia!
...

Okay, I'm sharing this patriotic tablescape to these fabulous days...

What a fun tablescape! My son would have loved the baseball additions when he was a boy. Hey, I like them now and I'm not even a big baseball fan!

Be sure to come by for a visit and check out my new linky parties starting up tonight, June 1st.
