A Spindle Lamp Revamp

I love Spindle Lamps!

I was so excited the other day when I found an old brass spindle lamp from our local Habitat for Humanity Restore here in Charlotte...for just $5 dollars!

Here's the "before" picture.  Ugh...that shiny brass had to go!

This lamp was in bad shape...below you can see the dings and scratches in the brass.  But with the overall spindle shape of the lamp, I knew there was potential.

Here I've got the cord taped off and the painting underway.  I used Krylon spray paint in Gloss Black and got to work spraying from all angles...paying close attention not to miss any areas in between the spindles.

Once painted, I added a new textured bucket lamp shade from Target and this project was finished.

I gotta tell ya, I am lovin' our new updated lamp!  And this modern shade works great in our monochromatic family room too adding contrast and texture.

Okay, I'm linkin' this fun lil' lamp revamp to these fabulous days:

It really looks great, Jane. And you can use just regular spray paint on brass? I do like it in black and I bought the same lamp shade at Target! :-)

I am not keen on spindle lamps - but I must confess this one has lovely shape and detail.

The lamp looks GREAT! I've actually been seeing a lot of brass lamps lately and wondering how they would look spray painted. I guess the answer is FABULOUS! Off to the thrift store I will go!

I'll have to show this to my husband, who keeps insisting that I can't paint the ugly brass lamp he won't get rid of!
