Chances are excellent you've heard of the legendary Scentsy company?  If not, Scentsy innovated the powerfully simple idea of aromatic candles...decorative warmers with wax melted by the heat of a light bulb instead of a traditional wick and flame.  Wow...enjoying beautifully scented candles without the dangerous flames...love that!

Here are a few of Scentsy's fabulous Aromatic Candle Warmers...
Riviera Scentsy Warmer

Faith Scentsy Warmer

Wynken Scentsy Warmer

I'm super excited today because for our Giveaway...Andrea Smith, a Director and independent consultant with Scentsy is generously offering - a Scentsy warmer and bar scent (a $35 value) to one lucky Frugalicious Friday participant.

So Simple Thursday...makin' it my own

So Simple...Thursday (or any day) is my new lil' feature where I take a simple design idea from a magazine or even online and make it my own.  Yup, I love simple and easy ways to spruce up my home, and some good ole inspiration is all I need to put a good idea into action around here.

Here's a fun idea I saw in Sunset Magazine.  This picture below actually illustrates the idea of reinventing found wood as a coat rack.  Great idea, but that's not what intrigued me.  I instantly loved the idea of accessorizing coat racks with cute and functional items that reflect the season.  Here we've got warm weather items perfect for a day at the beach...love this!

So I set out to create a similar look with items around the house.  Yup, no need to buy anything new for a simple idea like this.  I hit my closet and found a few items perfect for Spring's warmer weather.

The items atop the shelf were already there...I just added a few hats, and a summer bag.  Which I might add is perfect for storing the kid's goggles, and other summertime accessories.

Now will this look stay this way?  With our busy family...absolutely not!  In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see kid 1's dirty baseball jersey hanging there one day. But with just a little effort, I'm hoping we can maintain this fun, beachy look!

Wow, an easy way to accessorise your home that also reflect the seasons...go shop your closet cuz this is SO SIMPLE!

Alrighty my design loving peeps, Frugalicious Friday is ON tomorrow and we've got a fabulous Scentsy Giveaway...wahoo!  See you then.

Guest Blogger...Kristen from My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia

It's Thursday and you know what that means...we've got a guest blogger in the house!  Yup, Kristen from My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia.  I've enjoyed getting to know Kristen over the last 6 months or so, and let me tell you this girl know's good design.  Her blog chronicles her journey towards creating a beautiful home, on a budget and without sacrificing style...you know I love that!

And so without further delay...here's Kristen!

Hi I’m Kristin from My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia. I feel so honored to be on Jane's blog today, thank you so much for having me!

With five of us and 2 dogs my washer and dryer are constant. I figured since I have the monotonous job of laundry I might as well have a laundry room that makes me happy! So I came up with a plan to make it look like a blue tiffany box tied with a little black bow. What girl doesn't like a tiffany box, right?

I love walking into the unexpected, I have to admit, this was a huge step out of the box for me. I tend to play it safe when decorating our home. I enjoy a very neutral pallet with pops of color and I enjoy a timeless classic look.  Trust me I know this look wont last for years to come but it's paint, I can color right over it! For now, the tiffany blue is a feel-good color, it's bright yet refreshing and makes me happy.

I found these cute little bins at home depot on clearance for $2 each, perfect for hiding all the junk!

My mother in law sewed these straight curtains for me so I can hide all our swimming gear, rags, beach towels. I actually have about 3 of those bins of clothes waiting to be ironed but thought I would put 2 aside for the photo shoot.

She did the same up top so I can hide all my treasures. The bow was a lot of fun to make, very tedious but fun. I just free handed it and colored it in, you most definitely need patience for this job!

The boys are responsible for putting away all the "junk" that makes it into their $1 tins that I spraypainted with chalkboard paint. The iron cover I made.

I hope I've inspired you to step out of your comfort zone and go for it, I'm so glad I did! Pick a color that makes you happy, pick a small room, it will give you the opportunity to work with a color you most likely wouldn't use in a larger space.

Thank you Jane for having me as your guest today, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you and find so much inspiration in your blog!

Hope you will stop by and say hi! Have a wonderful day!

Kristen you are so very welcome, and thank you for sharing your fabulous laundry room!  I gotta tell ya...you've got yourself one cute n' colorful lil' room where doing laundry isn't so bad afterall!  All I can say is "I want a pretty room to do laundry in too!"

If you're looking for more ideas and inspirations, you've got to check out Kristen's blog My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia.  You'll find fabulous decorating ideas, fresh design solutions, amazing Diy projects and more!  Yup, she's rocks!

Simple Jute n' Shell Napkin Rings

Have you seen these beautiful napkin ring holders from Beth @ The Stories of A to Z?  If not click here for the full scoop on this fabulous project!

I saw these rings visiting Beth's fun blog one day and was instantly inspired to try this project myself!  Afterall, pretty napkin ring holders at retail go for at least $4 or $5 each...if not more!  So I set out to create my own version using shells and thin jute twine I snagged at Target for just a dollar!

Here are my suppies.  Again the twine...just a buck!  The shells I bought at Michael's for $2.99 (or you could just find them at the beach!) and the napkin ring holders were just 50 cents each from Old Time Pottery, one of my favorite discount stores.

For this project I tied the twine in a simple tight knot in the center of the ring, then I wrapped the twine (tightly) all the way around the ring to cover the entire piece.  Once I finished wrapping...I glued the last twine string to the inside of the ring.  Then I gave the inside of each ring a coating of Mod Podge for extra durability.

Next I adhered a shell atop each ring using my glue gun.  As you can see from the picture below, I placed the shell over top that unsightly single knot.

Here they are finished!  Yup, these napkin rings are cute and easy.  In fact, often my favorite design projects are all about taking a great idea (like Beth's)...and simplifying it!

And one last look!  Such a fun project that only took one afternoon to finish...I'm tellin' ya, this crafty project rocks!

Okay, I'm sharing this thrifty project with these fabulous linky parties:

She's Crafty...Ashley from Little Miss Momma!

***If your looking for Frugalicious Friday and our giveaway with Purple Trail...click here! The MckLinky is still open today, so link up those fabulous finds!***

Welcome to my week-end feature...She's Crafty! This is where I spotlight one crafty mamma, her fabulous craft project and tutorial too, cuz we gotta have a great tutorial in order to get our craft on!

Meet Ashely from Little Miss Momma.  Ashley is one cute momma...she loves making lists, peanut butter on a spoon, her sons dimples, Michaels 40% off coupons, Mod Podge, and Christmas morning!  Ashley believes in sharing what she loves, and thank goodness for that because she's created some chic wall art...on the cheap, love it!  Here's her fabulous Stencil Wall Art Tutorial in her own fabulous words:

**********************
It's time for another easy-peasy tutorial from this Little Miss Momma.

Just pick your own colors, stencil and canvas size for a customized look to go in your home. This is a VERY quick and cheap way to add some color and art to your bare walls.

Here are the {SUPPLIES} you will need:

Canvas (I used a 18 x 24 canvas on sale for $6 at Michaels)

Stencil of your choice (available at Michaels)

Acrylic Craft Paint in the color(s) of your choice

Stencil Paint (found in the stencil section at Michaels)

Paint Brush

Scotch Tape

Step {One}:

Paint your entire canvas the color of your choice. I mixed two colors of green (leaf green, citron) in order to get the more textured color of green that I was looking for. Allow the canvas to dry completely before proceeding to step two.

Step {Two}:

Place the stencil over the painted canvas in the area that you want the first row of the graphic to appear. Tape the stencil into place so that it doesn't shift when you start to paint. Now, apply a VERY small amount of stencil paint to the tip of your brush. With stencil paint, a little goes a long way. I highly recommend using stencil paint, otherwise you increase the chance that your paint will smear/run. Paint over the entire stencil with the stencil paint.

Lift the stencil slightly as you go to be sure that you are filling all the areas completely.

Step {Three}:

Once you finish painting in the first row of your stencil, lift up the stencil and line it up again directly above your first row, and then repeat step two for this second row of graphic.

When you finish the second row you may notice some extra space on your canvas where there isn't enough room for another entire row of stencil/graphic. I chose to paint in another row of stencil going over the edge (see picture below). I liked the look of the graphic going over the edge, but that is completely up to your preference.

And Wall-ah!!

In 3 EASY steps you now have an awesome piece of canvas wall art.

I think this project works amazingly when you use multiple canvases {i.e. 3 square or rectangle canvases} and continue the graphic onto the other canvases so that you have one large piece of art.

Happy Crafting!

Thank you Ahley for the fabulous tutorial!  I am totally inspired to try this myself...and this would look great in any color to match any decor, love that!  If your looking for more fun adventures in crafting, decorating and mommyhood...check out Little Miss Momma!
