Guest Blogger...33 Shades of Green!

Well I'm super excited today...Alissa from 33 Shades of Green is our Guest Blogger!  I know Alissa from all the fabulous projects she's linked up to Frugalicious Friday over the last several months.  Not only are her projects stylish and functional...but she does em' on the cheap too, oh how I love that!  Okay get ready to be inspired, here's Alissa with a collection of some of her best projects...
...
Hi Finding Fabulous readers!  I'm Alissa from 33 Shades of Green.  First, let me say that I am just so excited to be here guest posting.  Thank you Jane for having me!  I'm an Interior Designer for an architectural firm, and design commercial interiors.  When I'm not working, you'll find me crafting, cooking, decorating, and trying out all sorts of creative projects for my house.
.
I thought I'd share a few of my favorite projects with you.  First up are these patio cushions I recovered for two of my outdoor chairs.  The chairs were in great shape but after three seasons outside, the cushions became very faded.  Here's what the chairs look like now:
...

Sewing the cushions took some time, but it was definitely worth it!
...

You can read my full post on recovering the patio cushions right here.
Next up is a project that cost me next to nothing to make!  I had a blank space on a wall in my home office and decided to use three frames I already had to create something fun.
...

I used my computer to print out the alphabet in three different fonts.
...

This is one of my favorite projects because it's quick, easy, and almost free!  Wouldn't this be a fun project for a child's room or a nursery?  You can read my full tutorial here.
...

Another inexpensive project are these decorative letters.

I used wood letters from the craft store and patterned scrapbook paper to make these letters.  I love how the look can easily be customized to any room just by using different scrapbook paper.  And, the entire project cost less than $5.00!  Full tutorial here.

I think this wrapping paper and ribbon wall rack is one of my all-time favorite projects.  I wish I had made this sooner!
...

All you need to create this is an open back frame and tension rods.  I have this hanging in my craft room and I love it!  Not only does it look great, but it's functional too.
...

I have a tutorial  for the wrapping paper and ribbon wall rack on my blog.
How about making a unique accent for your garden?  I made these pots (called hypertufa) out of concrete, perlite, and peat moss.

This project is easy but a little time consuming.  I think the end result was worth it!  You can read my tutorial here.

I hope you enjoyed these projects.  Thanks again Jane for having me over today!

You are more than welcome Alissa...words cannot express how much I {heart} your thrifty design ideas!  That quatrefoil pattern on your recovered patio cushions is to die for, and your practically free framed alphabet prints...so smart!   Oh and the wrapping paper station...sigh!!  Yup, I must have one of those in my craft closet.

Thanks again Alissa for the inspiration, and for stopping by today!

Okay guys...Frugalicious Friday is ON tomorrow and we've got a fun giveaway from Photojewelrymaking.com, so link up those fabulous finds, crafts and Diy projects...cuz we want the scoop on how you find fabulous!  See you then.

A Painted Up Bedside Table!

Wow, our family has been so busy this Summer with traveling, kid 1's baseball and kid 2's swim team...that my Diy to-do list has been s-l-o-w moving!  But with Summer winding down and Fall just around the corner...I'm excited to finally get back to doing what I love...Diy projects!

I finally finished painting my daughter's bedside table!  You may remember from a previous post, this bedroom furniture below was the Hubby and I's first bedroom set 15 years ago when we were first married.  It's Fontana and used to be a light oak color.  But with it's traditional lines I knew it would be perfect in my daughter's room painted white!

I almost painted this furniture a creamy heirloom white, but the main colors in the room are  pink, purple and green...and I love how these colors contrast against the crisp white!

And to further update her room I purchased two fun accessories from Target...a funky retro lamp for under $20, and a fun vintage floral throw pillow I snagged on clearance for just $9.99...yup, total score!!

This bed still doesn't have a headboard yet (that's a fun project just waiting to happen!).  So to give the bed more heighth and presence against the large purple wall, I added lots of pillows and framed simple scrap book papers above...click here for this super easy project!

Here's one last final look!  This room went from kinda boring with a dark n' dated oak side table and a plain ole' lamp...to fresh n' bright with the simple addition of a revamped bedside table, a funky retro lamp, and a vintage floral throw pillow. Total spent (since the paint I already had)... just $30!

Okay guys, I'm sharing this thrifty lil' bedroom revamp to...
these fabulous days!
