This blog is her place to *dump pretty ideas and beautiful inspiration.  Well Autumn can "dump" her design ideas here anytime!

And so without further delay, take it away Autumn...
...
 Many thanks to Jane for inviting me to be here today at Finding Fabulous!
As an interior designer, I have a passion for all things related to architecture, remodeling and home decor, but I also have a secret obsession with wrapping gifts. Today I will be sharing some super chic, cheap and e-a-s-y gift adornments. Yes, I realize that Halloween is this weekend, but before you know it, Christmas will be here! And, if you are anything like me, you can never start planning too soon.
...

 These gift adornments are so versatile---by alternating the felt colors and ribbon, they can be used for birthdays, baby showers, hostess gifts, and of course, Christmas.
...

Here is what you will need:
gift boxes
felt
ribbon
something round to trace
scissors,  marker, glue gun
paper or fabric (if you choose to cover your box)

Trace your circles onto some felt.

Fold each circle in half and cut two small slits on either side of the center.

This is what you will end up with.

Start to thread your felt circles onto your ribbon.

Tie the ribbon around a gift box.
You're done!
Didn't I tell you it would easy?

And not to mention CUTE.
And cheap.
What a great combination, huh?

Here is a variation where I covered the top of the box with scrapbook paper.

And another variation using alternating large and small circles with the same color felt.

Happy wrapping friends!

Wow, what a thrifty and chic alternative to a regular old bow!  And I love how clean n' simple this is...like modern little flower petals!  And with Christmas just around the corner...the timing couldn't be more perfect.

Thank you Autumn for sharing this fabulous tutorial...I love, love this simple idea!  Give Autumn a shout at her blog Design Dump!

Guest Blogger...Emily from the Jones Design Company!

Hey guys if your looking for Frugalicious Friday...click here.
...
Okay, back to our regularly scheduled programming. :)

*******************************************

Wahoo, we've got a fabulous guest blogger in the house today!  Emily from the Jones Design Company is here!

And in honor of our philosophy here at Finding Fabulous...you know - decorating for less and thinkin' outside the design box?  Emily is sharing a tutorial on her fabulous cable knit pillow!  Okay Emily, take it away...
...

Thanks Jane for having me today! I love a good project and when it is low cost, it is even better.  Today I’ll show you how I made a cozy, classic and simple pillow using a thrift store sweater. I call it the...

sweater

Here is what you’ll need:

IMG_6940

:: a sweater

:: down pillow form

:: scissors, tape measure, pins

:: sewing machine

:: needle & thread

STEP ONE: cut the arms off the sweater

IMG_6945

I found this Eddie Bauer turtleneck cable knit at Goodwill for $5.99. It was in great shape {barely worn} and I love that it is part angora. If you have an old sweater in your closet, this would be a great way to reuse it.

IMG_6941[4]

STEP TWO: cut out the front and back of the pillow

IMG_6946

measure the insert to determine the size of the pillow adding 1/2 inch to each side for seam allowance {my pillow form was 16 inches, so I cut the sweater to 17 inches}

IMG_6948

measure and cut {I cut both front and back at one time being sure to keep the two pieces lined up}.

IMG_6949

You will have two identical pieces.

IMG_6954

STEP THREE: pin right sides together

IMG_6955

IMG_6958

STEP FIVE: stitch around the perimeter of the pillow

IMG_6959

Using a regular stitch, be sure to leave an opening at the bottom of the pillow and back stitch several times to secure.

STEP SIX: trim the edges

IMG_6964

cut the corners at a diagonal and trim excess material from the seam allowances

STEP SEVEN: turn right side out

IMG_6965

IMG_6967

STEP EIGHT: add the insert and hand-stitch close

So cozy!

IMG_6979

Ahhh, I am in LOVE with this thrifty lil' project.  And how Ah-mazing that this stylish n' cozy pillow was made with a thrift store sweater!  Yup, this is definitely a "think outside the design box" project!

Thank you Emily for stopping by today and sharing this fabulous tutorial!  Give Emily a shout over at the Jones Design Company.  You'll find many more simple and trendy design ideas!
