Inspiration...zebra print rug!

Be still my heart...I am in LOVE with this Stylish Family Room from Hyphen Interiors!

Ahhh, now this is how you design a room around a fabulous zebra print rug!  
And this rug was purchased from Wal-mart too...don't you just love that?

Now let's talk about color.  I am diggin' these blue and green accent colors.  And combined with the neutral colors in the sectional, walls and curtains...these colors pop!  

Finally the dark blacks and browns in the lamp shades, ottoman, and mirror help balance that bold and black zebra print...providing great contrast too.

Trash to Treasure...revamped cane chairs!

Today I am swooning over these Reupholstered Cane Chairs from 4 Inspirations!
You can find vintage cane chairs at most Habitat for Humanity Restores.  I know the one here in Charlotte, NC always has older cane chairs...on the cheap!

Suzanne revamped hers with high gloss black paint and yellow fabric...love the color combination!

Fall Acorn Wreath!

Fall is finally here and you know what that means....it's time to hang our wreaths on the front door, wahoo!  I love seeing all the fabulous wreaths out there in blog land.  And the options are endless...I've seen book page wreaths, coffee filter wreaths, yarn wreaths, burlap wreaths, even candy wreaths!  Well now we can add Acorn Wreath to the list.  Check this out...
Katie from Little Things Bring Smiles made this Acorn Wreath with, well - you guessed it...Acorns!  Actually she gathered her acorns in the yard, washed them and even baked them at 350 degrees for 15 minutes to prepare them perfectly for her project.  Looks like her prep work paid off...

Ahhh, I  LOVE the simplicity here!  Clean n' modern...definitely not your Grandmother's faded old wreath with the fake flowers.  You know the one ;)

Frugalicious Friday!

Mood Boards...mixing styles!

I've been busy creating a design for a client who wants to incorporate her family's heirloom mid century modern dining table and buffet (her grandfather actually built this set), and a few existing traditional elements such as her old world chandelier.  The client doesn't want to buy everything new therefore my goal was to make both these styles work together.
So I used an Olio Mood Board...I love this site!  If you haven't used Olioboard click here to learn more about this fabulous site.  Here's the new design...

First we added simple cream parsons chairs, because finding wood chairs to match this unique table would be very difficult...not to mention expensive!  And parsons chairs are only around $100...love that! 
For more traditional style we added upholstered chairs in a soft blue for added color and interest.  Funky candlestick lamps help tie in the mid century modern theme, and the quatrefoil area rug is very old world don't you think?
The soft blue paint color is for the trey ceiling, and the warm cocoa brown will be the wall color.  The client also wanted to save money on window treatments, so we used simple silk panels in a cool, dark brown...reinforcing our blue n' brown color scheme.

Chicken Wire Memo Boards...

I found these Chicken Wire Memo Boards on Pinterest the other day and...simply fell for these cute n' functional frames.  So perfect for displaying photos, cards or even kids art!
Sasha from Lemonade Makin' Mama made these, and in fact sells them in her Etsy shop here for around $30.
Or you could make them on your own...I'm just sayin'!  Ahhh, the perfect week-end project to get your spray paint ON!

I recently came across an Etsy shop that sells the most Ahh-mazing handcrafted custom pillows!  It's called Pop O' Color, and they offer a great selection of handcrafted and custom pillows in seriously trendy and up to date decorator fabrics.  

I love using simple accessories to add color and texture when decorating a space.  And these chic pillows are sure to punch up the style factor in any room.  So keep your furniture, and buy a few smart accessories to give your space a whole new updated look...without totally breakin' the bank!

I love finding free places on the web to create Custom Wall Art!  After all, Art sold at retail these days is expensive.  Wouldn't you love to create your own unique art, at home, printed straight from your home computer, for free?  Well here's a site where you can.

Screen Print Painted Pillows!

One of my favorite trends in home decor right now are...geometric patterns!  

The Mid century modern prints and clean lines are perfect if your looking to add chic style, without breakin' the bank!
